Beauty Splurge: Luxola.com and first impression

Heyyyyyy!

Luxola.com had their 30% flash sales last Friday, so I decided to get myself some stuffs to try out =) The stuffs I got are the stuffs that are not selling/ hard to get in Malaysia.

Things I got (from left):
1. Maybelline Colourshow Lipstick in Party Pink
2. Maybelline Colourshow Lipstick in Disco Coral
3. Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Bright Transformer
4. Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser

I just received my parcel today and I'm really excited to try these out! Just imagine I was so excited that I left my phone in the university when I was collecting my parcel. Omg omg omg. Luckily there was this very honest guy who found my phone and handed it to the security office. Thaaaaaaaaankkk youuuuu! Lucky me =')

My first thought when I unwrapped Maybelline Colourshow Lipstick in Party Pink was: omg this pink is so cute!! And it turns out to be very party-ish as stated in its name. Lol. The only think I don't really like about it is the consistency of the lipstick. It doesn't seem to blend onto my lips well, in fact, the colour looks like its "floating" on my lips. So I wiped it off and tried it with lip balm. And it looks just fine!

And I don't like how Maybelline Colourshow Lipstick in Disco Coral turns out to be. It looks pale in this photo, however, trust me, it looks just like fluorescent pale orange with loads of glitter sparkles! =( The consistency is bad, it doesn't blend onto my lips and the colour is really patchy!

So I tried using it together with my Mac Matte Lipstick in All Fired up. And it turns out to be just fine by transforming my dark pink lipstick into pinkish coral lipstick (compare the colour difference between the left and right side of my lips). Still, I don't like the glitters and they are really hard to be removed.

The final look. Blending Mac Matte Lipstick in All Fired Up and Maybelline Colourshow Lipstick in Disco Coral together.

I also got a couple of items from Maybelline's Baby Skin series. This is SOOOOOO CUTE! Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Bright Transformer claims to brighten and transform your skin into dewy, pinkish blushing look and should be used after your daily toner and moisturizer. I tried it on the back of my palms and it indeed gives a dewy effect on my skin. And I'm super in love with its fragrant! How I wish I can describe how it really smells like, but it smells like Body Shop Lotus Petal products!

Since I have pretty oily skin, I'm gonna try out if my skin will be even oilier after applying this instant bright transformer. Will review it soon! =)

I read a lot of good reviews online about this Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser, and some even say that it's a cheap version of Benefit Porefessional. Uhm. Well, indeed it's a good primer on first impression, see how it matifies the fine lines on my elbow. However, I think it's rather oily compared toBenefit Porefessional. No worries, I shall try it out and review it soon. Stay tuned! =)

Life Saver: Correcting overdone blush

On a sunny day I decided to put on my make up and go out for a date. Just before I left my house I looked at the mirror and realised I have overdone my blush. OMG. This is so scary and I just looked like a clown!. Okay. To be honest I exaggerated my blush so that it turns out more obvious in this photo. Lol.

Fret not! Here's the way to "erase" your blush and create a natural glowing and blushing look. =)
All you need is just your daily foundation, a make up sponge or a foundation brush.

I'm using:
Blush: MAC A Fantasy of Flowers Collection Spring 2014 in Petal Power
Foundation - Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
Brush- E.L.F. studio powder brush

To start, I just simply pump out some foundation on the back of my palms. Then dab the foundation using my brush.

Then, I dab the foundation gently and evenly all over my cheeks. The amount of foundation used depends on the type of foundation you're using. For me, I prefer using a medium coverage foundation to create a natural glowing look.

Tadaaa! The before and after look.

And voila! The finished look. Loving the naturally glowing and blushing look that accentuates my puffy cheeks. =)

Combating sensitive skin

Sensitive skin? Argh! It's always the most frustrated things to deal with.

I personally have very sensitive skin, and these are the ways I combat it:

1. Avène Thermal Spring Water

It comes in an aerosol spray bottle form and I use this whenever my skin feels dry and itchy. The redness of my skin soothes down immediately. This spray is very refreshing, not only it calms and soothes down the redness in my skin, the bumps due to sensitive skin fades away after a few days using it, results in softer and smoother skin.

This product claims that it's:
- Rich in silicate and trace element
- Low salt mineral content does not dry out the skin
- pH 7.5: perfect balance of anions and cations
- Preservative free
- Hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.

Product available at: Sasa, Watsons, Guardian.

2. Keep my skin hydrated.
Keeping your skin care routine is very important to ensure your skin stays hydrated. I'm using Hada Labo Moisturizing Lotion (toner) and Hada Labo Moisturizing Milk (Moisturizer). Both toner and moisturizer are very rich in hyaluronic acid and keeps my skin hydrated and mositurized, However, the moisturizer is slightly densed and oily, so it might not be suitable for people with very oily skin.

Product available at: Certain Sasa stores, Watsons, Guardian, Tesco.

3. Keep myself hydrated.

Our skin needs to stay well hydrated in order to remain moist, supple and healthy. Drinking plenty of water is one of the best thing that we can do to keep our skin healthy.

This is how drinking plenty of water helps keeping our skin healthy.

4. Natural Remedy - Homemade Green Tea and Honey Mask

Green tea contains polyphenol, the anti-oxidant agent which helps protecting the skin and reduces inflammation. The ant-oxidant contained in green tea also helps with the anti-aging process.

Honey naturally has moisture retention properties (good for people with dry skin!) and anti-bacterial properties. Besides, honey can soothes and calm your skin.

The combination of green tea and honey not only does soothes sensitive skin, it also helps curing acne due to the anti-inflammation properties in green tea and anti-bacterial agent in honey.

To prepare the green tea and honey mask:
Ingredients:
- Green Tea Leaves
- Honey

Preparation steps:
1. Soak green tea leaves in some hot water. I normally use teabags, so what I do is I prepare myself a cup of green tea to drink, and use the remaining tea leaves for the mask.
2. Remove the tea leaves from the tea bag and place them in a nice bowl. You can also use a jar if you plan to prepare more and keep them in the refrigerator for future usage.
3. For one teabag, add one tablespoon of honey and blend well.
4. After thorough cleansing, apply the green tea and honey mixture onto your skin. For normal skin, this regime can be used as facial scrub. However, for sensitive skin, I would advice just applying gently on your face so you won't further irritate your skin.
5. Rinse it after 10 minutes and viola! Say hi to smooth skin =)

Do you normally have sensitive skin? How and what do you do to combat it?
